Here for sale is a 1961 Commer Bluebird " Moto-Plus " Camper van.

The camper has had just 4 former keepers from new, the first owner had the van for 34 years, the last owner had the van since 2005 until his recent passing.
The Commer was converted from new by Bluebird Caravans (Motorised) in Parkstone near Poole, Dorset or Hampshire as it was then. This camper is one of only two known survivors. Bluebird renamed the Moto-Plus as the Wayfarer and then changed the layout and roof, Wayfarer`s survive in greater numbers but only in the later trim as far as I am aware.
This lovely camper has travelled just 27950 miles from new! It has spent many many years in storage with occasional recommision and light use and then being put back to rest! I have some history of the vehicle, old Mot`s, original service and handbook etc etc.
The camper has just passed its Mot on 3rd September with no advisories and it has current road tax through to August 2013 although it is of course Tax Exempt.
The condition of the camper is outstanding and 99% original. It has NEVER BEEN WELDED nor does it need any, the bodywork and underside are absolutely sound and original, it still has some of its original paintwork although its getting very thin in places. It has a repair at some time to the front nearside lower valance under the front front bumper and as far as I can see that is all it has had in the way of bodywork, I have not seen a Commer of this age as sound and solid as this is.
The interior is again original and unmessed with. The Commer has 3 Berths, a 2 Burner Gas Hob and Grill, an Onboard Water Tank, a small Sink, a Freestanding Table for inside and outside use, a working Gas Light, 12 volt Lighting, Gas bottle, a good size Wardrobe, lots of under seat storage. The front seats are original as are the rear seats but the rears have been recovered recently in period vinyl. The flooring is all original.
Mechanically the Commer is in fine fettle. It is fitted with its original 1592cc engine and 4 speed manual gearbox. It will never win any races but ambles along happily at 50mph. The tyres are all in excellent condition and look virtually new. Please remember that the Commer is now 51 years old and it does not drive like a modern vehicle. It does not have Power Steering! It has a Choke, remember them? There is no synchro on 1st gear! Its old technology but for a Commer its one of the best I have driven.
This Commer is a must have for a serious collector or enthusiast, it is not in concours condition but it is in excellent unrestored original condition and there are not many left like this now especially early PA models.
I am happy to take a Part exchange on the Commer.

Tel Sorry its sold!
